Suhba is a two-day spiritual retreat camp aimed at creating an opportunity for participants to spend time with esteemed scholars, engage in dialogue, and share knowledge and life practices. The first edition of Suhba brought together hundreds of participants from various backgrounds and regions of the world. This year, Suhba is scheduled to take place on 30th and 31st December 2024 at Jamiul Futuh - The Indian Grand Masjid in Calicut. The retreat will feature renowned scholars, spiritual leaders, and academics who will facilitate sessions on various aspects of spirituality, knowledge, and self-growth. It offers participants a chance to receive companionship, knowledge, and Ijaza (certification of learning) from some of the most respected voices in the Islamic tradition.

What is Suhba?

In Islamic tradition, Suhba refers to companionship or fellowship, particularly with spiritual guides or righteous people. It is based on the idea that being in the presence of virtuous individuals influences spiritual growth and moral refinement. Historically, Suhba has been a critical part of Islamic teaching, where students would seek the company of learned scholars to absorb their knowledge, wisdom, and ethics. The spiritual companionship of a teacher aids in cultivating the soul and drawing closer to the creator through introspection, remembrance (dhikr), and service.
